Activities. La Rotonde is destined to become a museum that will present a collection of representative works of the history of contemporary art in Côte d’Ivoire. While waiting to build this collection is an art center that organizes exhibitions, conducts debates on issues of society and civilization, promotes exchanges and artistic collaborations and intends to publish books on art and culture. For its opening, the Rotunda has organized an exhibition entitled Top Picks devoted to 6 major artists in the sub region, Ky Siriki (Burkina), James Houra and Jems Koko Bi (Côte d’Ivoire), Kwami Ata (Ghana), Tola Wewe (Nigeria) and Sokey Edorth (Togo). She also devoted a large exhibition (History is looking at us) to young artists. Magreb Connection welcomed Ursula Bienamn, a video artist from Switzerland presented by Christophe Domino, President of the French section of the International Association of Arts Reviews (IAIS). More recently the Rotunda has devoted an exhibition to 4 missing Ivorian artists, Gerard Santoni, Alexander Dagry, Yacouba Toure and Issa Kouyate, to present their contribution to art history in Ivory Coast while raising the question the conservation of the works such artists leave behind. In addition to its own initiatives, the Rotunda welcomes other projects it deems worthy of interest.

Resources. La Rotonde is managed by Initiative Association for Contemporary Art (SCPI), chaired by Yacouba Konate, philosopher and president of AICA. The curator is Yaya Savane, curator and former director of the Museum of Civilizations in Abidjan. It works with 4 permanent and recruits a small team of contract for exhibitions. Located in the building Nour Al Hayat Plateau, a place very busy, it offers two exhibition rooms (350 m2 and 75 m2) and a conference room (75 m2).
